Cinemien releases 2 new films by Ramón Gieling

02-07-2022

Director and screenwriter Ramón Gieling, together with DOXY Films, has exclusively partnered with Cinemien for his two new films. “L’AMOUR LA MORT” is the third film by Ramón Gieling and DOXY Films, which distributor Cinemien will release as part of a trilogy alongside “Over Canto” and “Erbarme dich – Matthäus Passion Stories.” Through marvelous testimonies from extraordinary characters and icons from music history, these three films delve into a deeper and irrational layer of our consciousness.

In “L’AMOUR LA MORT,” the secrets of love, life, and suffering come to life, as a labyrinthine constellation of extraordinary characters, touching love stories, music, and animated paintings come together to create a hallucinatory journey.

Another new film by Ramón Gieling, “PAUL BLANCA, this film saves your life,” has been made with the same uncensored passion. It is not only the encounter between the filmmaker and a controversial photographer; it is primarily a film where life, suffering, and photography intertwine ever more profoundly, ultimately leading to death. Paul Blanca was the only international ‘rival’ of homosexual photographer and icon Robert Mapplethorpe. This touching enigma explores how Blanca, a ladies’ man, was embraced by icons from the gay world, some of whom appear in the film: Hans van Maanen, Erwin Olaf, Hans Kemna, Rob Malasch, Henk van Dijk, among others.

“We are proud and honored to announce that multidisciplinary artist Ramón Gieling is joining Cinemien again for his next two films. With Ramón’s works, we add artistically powerful and unique audiovisual masterpieces to our catalog. Ramón’s films align perfectly with Cinemien’s values and the distinctive character of the Dutch film scene.”Cinemien Director- Ian van der Putten

This collaboration between DOXY, Ramón, and distributor Cinemien is based on a strong and shared desire to explore the boundaries of genres and break them when necessary.
